35TH ANNUAL STATE RESERVE COMPETITION SHOOT

Great weather welcomed a good number of shooters for the 35th annual state reserve competition shoot.  The shoot was held on September 21, 2008 at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy Range at Camp Dodge.

Registration began at 8:00 AM and shooting started at 9:00 AM.  This year there were six classes for the revolver, semi-auto and duty weapon-shotgun events.  The off-duty class also proved to be popular with some shooters and the team even had a good number of teams.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Reserve won the team event, with the Linn County Sheriff's Reserve placing second and the Van Buren County Sheriff's Reserve taking third.

The trophies will be awarded at the 37th annual conference, which will be held this next spring in West Des Moines.

Many thanks to those who helped on the registration crew.  Also, thanks to Marshall County Sheriff Ted Kamatchus for running the range.  A big thank you, to all that helped with the many duties that are required to run the annual shoot.

This year, the weather turned out great and a good number of shooters showed up for the shoot.  Many of the shooters that did come were new attendees and were able to get in some good shooting fun and make new friends.  We hope you had a good time and look forward to seeing all of you again next year.  For all of the established shooters who did not make it, consider coming to the shoot again and let's make the 2009 shoot bigger.
