Quinn Turner is a native of Rock Island, Illinois, where he graduated from
Alleman High School in 1977. He attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon,
Iowa, where he graduated with a degree in English and Political Science in 1981,
and then received an M.S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois in 1982.
He worked for four years as a television news reporter - anchor in Dubuque, Iowa
and Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In 1986, he joined the public relations office
at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Since 1991, he has worked
as manager of medical education services at Iowa Health - Des Moines. He
joined the West Des Moines Police Department's Reserve Unit in 1999, and
served as ISRLOA president for 2007-2008.
